It’s the first Friday of the month and everyone in Club Penguin knows that that means! The newest issue of Penguin Style has arrived! That’s right, there are new clothing styles available for members over at the gift shop. This month’s catalog features fashions focused on the festivities for the Club Penguin Puffle Party that will be arriving later this month. And as always, there are plenty of hidden items, cheats and secrets inside the pages. Here is a video guide to finding all of them.

Hidden Items Inside the Catalog

• Click on the bucket on the painter penguins head to get the Red Viking Helmet for 750 coins.
• Click on the helmet to close the box and repeat the above 3 times to get the Blue Viking Helmet, which costs 1,200 coins.
• On the page with the lumberjack penguin, click on the tree trunk in the background to get the big white scarf for 175 coins.
• Click on the word PENGUINS in the Penguins at Work sign to get the Flutterby wig and the Blue Buckle-Up jacket. The wig costs 300 coins and the jacket costs 450 coins.
• Click on the light blue holiday light on the Coffee Shop awning to get the Puffle Pullover sweater, which costs 400 coins.
• Click on the yellow puffle to get the Candy Cane Wing-warmers for 100 coins. You don’t want your flippers to freeze!
• Click on the steps of the snow fort in the middle of the page to get the yellow toque (200 coins) and the Black Whirlpool Snowsuit (600 coins).
• Go to the page with the two penguins building a snowman. Click on all three treetops to get the following items: the Blue Earmuffs (250 coins), the Blue Striped Scarf (175 coins) and the Blue Mittens (100 coins).
• Click on the middle of the evergreen tree on the left side of the page to get the Gingerbread Costume for 400 coins.
• Click on the blue ornament on the Christmas tree to get the Snowboard Boots, which cost 275 coins.
• Click on the tree in the background under the blue umbrella to get the Brown Teal Cap (300 coins) and the Green Vest (450 coins).
• Click on the pink penguins beak to get the Blue Designer Scarf for 150 coins.
• Click on the purple penguin’s beak to get the Pink Designer Scarf for 150 coins.
• Click on the orange penguin’s flipper to get the Blue Striped Scarf for 150 coins.

Hard to believe, but there have now been twenty Club Penguin Field Ops missions. Maybe I’m having trouble believing there have been twenty because Club Penguin keeps repeating the same puzzles over and over again. This time, Gary needs us to seek out the final part for the new defenses, which is disguised somewhere on the island as a telephone.

To complete the mission, first click on your spy phone and head to the EPF Command Room, where you can accept the Field-Op. Now head to the inside of the mine and waddle up to the left corner, next to the red telephone on the desk. When you arrive in that spot, your spy phone light will turn green and it will ring and vibrate. Click on it to begin the puzzle.

This week, the puzzle is the power up the chipset puzzle that we’ve seen several times before, beginning with Field Ops Mission 2 – Broken Antenna. The goal is to power up each of the chips with your remote battery. You can power up two of them and then you need to recharge. One of the chips is behind a lock, and you’ll need to pass over the key before you can access it. For the full walkthrough, check out the video.

The latest issue of the Club Penguin Times, the official newspaper of Club Penguin, has been released. This week, it’s full of news about the upcoming Earth Day Party. The party will run from April 22 through the 25th and this is the very first Earth Day Party on Club Penguin, so there’s bound to be some new fun things to do.

The newspaper mentions several things about the party. One major piece of news is that a new room will open up as part of the event. It’s going to be a recycling plant, and it will open up next to the Mine Shack. Also, the newspaper says that a new invention created by Gary the Gadget Guy will be showcased inside. It will transform certain items into more “useful” ones. We’ll find out more when the party begins.

In the meantime, take a close look at the picture on the front of the newspaper. Is that really a pizza plant?

The newest collectible pin in Club Penguin is the Frog pin. It features a very cute frog sitting on a lily pad. You’ll find the new pin over at the Dock. It’s in the lower right corner of the screen, near your toolbar.

The new pin celebrates Earth Day and the upcoming Club Penguin Earth Day event (go green like a frog for Earth Day, get it?). Earth Day is on April 22, 2010 and the Club Penguin event will begin on or near that date.

Speaking of Being Green and Frogs, here’s one of the best songs of all time, sung by Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street. Kermit rocks!

Rockhopper’s ship, the Migrator, arrived today at the beach in Club Penguin. As always, he brought some rare items with him for sale to members and one free item for everyone. The rare items include some really old stuff, like the Admiral’s Hat and Admiral’s Coat. The hat hasn’t been seen for about four years! It’s a great chance for newer penguins to get their flippers on some really cool old items. The free item is pretty new, though. It’s the Hidden Treasure Background that was given out just a few weeks ago in the underground mine.

Of course, Rockhopper is also wandering around the island and you can try to locate him by using this Rockhopper Tracker. His disappearance may be linked to the sudden appearance of puffles inside the underground caves where Rory and the construction crew are working. Maybe there’s a secret puffle convention going on!

There’s a brand new pin hidden up at the beacon in Club Penguin. It’s the Golden Feather pin and it’s a very special pin. In addition to being a collectable pin, you’ll need it to get across the river inside the play at the stage, the Secrets of the Bamboo Forest. The feather pin is up at the top of the beacon in the upper right corner, on top of a green party crate for the upcoming Puffle Party.

Once you find the pin, head over to the stage where the Secrets of the Bamboo Forest just opened. Now when you approach the river to get to the throne, a bridge will appear and you can walk across.

The bridge appears when you have the golden feather pin.

Billybob let everyone know yesterday that some server improvements are coming to Club Penguin this week. They’re trying to make Club Penguin load a lot faster, which is great news for everyone. Spq96 over at the ClubpenguinCP blog also has a theory that the server changes might break many of the Club Penguin cheats and trainer programs and I think that’s probably right. I wonder if maybe CP is finally trying to put an end to all of the trainers like Penguin Storm and Club Penguin Money Maker. We’ll see pretty soon!

It took a little longer than expected, but the January 2010 issue of Penguin Style, the Club Penguin clothing catalog, has arrived at the Gift Shop in town. This catalog has a bunch of new items, along with the usual Club Penguin cheats, secrets, and hidden items. There’s also a brand new special page where you can create a custom t-shirt by choosing from a menu of different colors and designs.

Create a T-Shirt

The new create your own custom t-shirt page is near the front of the catalog. You can choose from three different shirt colors and five patterns for a total of 15 different possible designs. Once you’ve designed the shirt you like, click on the tag to buy it for 250 coins.

There are a lot of secrets, hidden items and cheats in this month’s issue of Penguin Style. Here’s how to find them all. Check out the video or the descriptions and screenshots below to help find all the Club Penguin clothing catalog cheats for January, 2010.

Pink Snorkel

Click on the snowman’s carrot nose to get the pink snorkel, which costs 200 coins.

Pink Flippers

Click on the mountaintop on the far right of the same page to get the Pink Flippers, which also cost 200 coins.

Red Viking Helmet

Click on the bubble in the middle of the page (next to the yellow fish) to get the Red Viking Helmet. It costs 750 coins.

Blue Viking Helmet

Click on the Red Viking Helmet to close the window and then click on the bubble to open it again. Repeat this three times to get the Blue Viking Helmet, which costs 1,200 coins.

Stocking Cap

Click on the Coins for Change bucket to get the blue and white striped stocking cap for 200 coins.

Long Johns

Click on the top of the snow-covered pine tree on the left to get the long johns. They cost 350 coins.

Musical Instruments

There are a few partially-hidden items in the middle tree. They are the Drumsticks (120 coins), the trumpet (450 coins), the acoustic guitar (700 coins), and the snare drum (380 coins).

Black Superhero Mask

Click on the letter K in Penguins at Work to get the black superhero mask for 100 coins. This month’s penguins at work outfit is the construction worker, which means you’ll probably see a lot of penguins hanging out at the iceberg trying to tip it with the jackhammers. It won’t work.

The Dizzy Wig

Click on the white puffle sitting on top of the purple penguin’s head to get the Dizzy, a wig that costs 500 coins.

Here’s something new that everyone is talking about. Fire Ninjas have two new special dance and wave moves. They’re very similar to the original ninja and cloud bracer moves but involve some really slick fire animations. These moves are triggered by doing the Dance or Wave actions with your penguin on the toolbar, or just by pressing the D and W keys. A few things. Obviously, you have to be a fire ninja to do these special moves. And you must be wearing the entire fire ninja suit, which has several pieces:

• Fiery Helmet
• Lava Mask
• Magma Coat
• Flame Sandals

Here is what the moves look like. The Dance move makes you stick your arms out and flames leap from your hands. The Wave move does a very quick fire animation and then you turn partially invisible, just like regular ninjas do.

Got five minutes to spare? You can make a lot of coins very quickly in Club Penguin in just five minutes. Everyone knows that to get all the fun stuff in Club Penguin, you need to earn plenty of Club Penguin coins. Although there are now a lot of different ways to earn coins in the game, the only way to get a lot of coins in Club Penguin is to dominate the mini-games. In some of my earlier posts, I’ve talked about the best games for earning coins in Club Penguin and given some tips and tricks on each of the different mini-games, like Cart Surfer and Puffle Round-up. If you play the right games and more importantly, know all the secrets and cheats for each of them, you can earn a lot of coins in Club Penguin very quickly. And that means less time to get all the fun stuff from the catalogs for your penguin and igloo!

Since the Christmas Party just ended and there isn’t much to do on Club Penguin right now, I thought I’d re-visit some of my earlier advice on the mini-games and show you three easy ways to earn 1,000 or more coins in just five minutes. You’ve probably got a few minutes to spare, right? Just follow one of these choices to get some Club Penguin coins quickly without cheating or hacking. Don’t forget, the January, 2010 issue of Club Penguin Style is coming out in just a few days, so now is a perfect time to start piling up the coins.

Cart Surfer

I love Cart Surfer. It’s still my favorite game for earning coins quickly. The nice thing is that there’s just two tricks you need to know and you can just repeat them over and over again and very quickly earn coins. The other nice thing is that the game is over pretty quickly, usually in just about a minute and a half or less. So you can just keep playing it until you can’t take it anymore! So, if you want to earn 1,000 coins in five minutes on Cart Surfer, here’s all you need to know: use the backflip move (press the down arrow and then the space bar) and the jump and spin move (press the space bar and then either the left or right arrow). And alternate between them constantly to get the maximum points. As long as you keep switching between the two moves, you’ll get 100 points for the backflip and 80 points for the jump and spin each time. That adds up to some serious points and coins.

I got 1,039 coins in five minutes while playing cart surfer.

Puffle Roundup

Puffle Roundup can either be an insanely fast way to earn coins or a complete disaster of wasted time and frustration. It all depends on knowing and using one key bit of strategy. In this game, which is played in the Pet Shop, you need to herd lots of puffles into a pen. They’ll move along happily as long as you know how to do it properly. The key strategy is to work from the outside of the screen in, using large sweeping motions with your mouse cursor. Don’t move your cursor around in a ton of different directions or you’ll likely push one of the puffles off the edge of the screen and he’ll escape. That will cost you a lot of time and points. Instead, just do large sweeping arc motions until all the puffles are gathered together at the opening of the pen and then shove ‘em in there and collect some amazing amounts of coins.

Just like Cart Surfer, this game goes pretty quickly if you stick with this advice. I got 1,021 coins in five minutes playing Puffle Roundup.

Catchin’ Waves

Catchin’ Waves is one of the newest Club Penguin games and it’s played at the Cove. One of the great things about this game is that there are a lot of different ways to play it. It has three separate modes and with the right techniques, you can get a lot of coins quickly in all three. But I like things easy. And here’s the absolute easiest way to get a lot of coins very fast playing Catchin’ Waves. First, play in Freestyle mode. Start pressing the “D” key repeatedly to do the Dance move. Just keep pressing it very quickly over and over throughout the whole game, because you get 10 points every time you do it. Then, all you need to do is position yourself right near the edge of the wave so that you are, “Shooting the Tube.” Once you’re in that position, you’ll see a little points counter show up next to your penguin. Ideally, you’ll be able to stay in this spot by slowly moving your mouse up and down to maintain a steady pace. If you break out of the tube by going too fast, just slow down and let it catch back up to you a bit. Shooting the tube and repeatedly pressing the D key is a great way to easily rack up a lot of points in this game.

I was able to complete two full runs in five minutes and got 1,003 coins in Catchin’ Waves.
