Club Penguin Times – Issue 336

The new issue of the Penguin Times is out and it features coverage of the Club Penguin April Fool’s Party 2012, which was also just released in the game. As usual, the April Fool’s edition of the Penguin Times is filled with funny and weird stuff and it gets started right on the front page.

For example, the front page contains the following “News Flash” items:

Rockhopper is a pirate!
Club Penguin is changing its name to Puffle-Puffle Happy Zombie Land!
Goldfish are neither gold nor fish!
Pizza tastes like pizza!

Ummm. OK. The main news covers the April Fool’s Party, which has appeared all over the island. Get ready for some craziness and zany happenings on Club Penguin this week while the April Fool’s Party 2012 is in full force!

Club Penguin Coins for Change to Double

Here’s some really great news about Club Penguin’s annual charity drive called, Coins for Change. This year, they’re going to double their donation to charity if penguins can fill the Lighthouse with coins from the event. How cool is that?

Red Electric Guitar Pin

The latest collectible pin in Club Penguin is the red electric guitar. It is hidden in the Hidden Lake room, which you can easily get to from the Forest. Just go to the Forest on your map and waddle over to the large boulder in the bottom left. It will roll away, revealing a rope ladder down to the Hidden Lake area underground. The red electric guitar pin is over on the right-hand side of the room. Of course, the pin celebrates the upcoming Music Jam party that arrives later this month!

New Message from Jet Pack Guy

EPF Agents have been seeing their spy phones light up with all kinds of messages over the past week. The latest is from Jet Pack Guy, who left the following message:

Yo everyone – I’ve been investigating some unusual computer activity. I’ve given my report to G – look for new orders soon.

New orders? Will this be a regular Field Ops mission or is something bigger in the works. Over the past few days, we saw an exchange between Klutzy the crab and Rookie, too.

EPF Sneak Peeks and More

There hasn’t been much real news about the Elite Penguin Force (EPF) in a while. Of course, we’ve all been doing our weekly Field Ops missions, but despite the ongoing storyline of those missions, not much has really happened. All that is about to change. This week’s cover story in the Club Penguin Times talks about the existence of the EPF and a recent blog post from none other than Billybob shows off a robot that the EPF will need to fight. It sounds like these robots have been behind all the strange events happening over the island for the past several weeks.

Lots of Upcoming Events

There are a lot of upcoming events in Club Penguin for the next week. The first major event you’ll want to be ready for is the Club Penguin Anniversary Party, which happens this year on Sunday, October 24. This is a one-day-only event and the highlight each year is the giveaway of the official Club Penguin party hat. No one knows what colors it will be this year, but the best bet is orange and yellow.

Hot on the heels of the Anniversary Party will be the announcement of the winners of the Halloween Igloo Contest. The first round of the winners will be announced on October 28. The igloo contest finished this past weekend and judges will be looking at the entries this week.

Things get really spooky with the Halloween Party, which will start on October 29 and run through November 3. It’s another quick party so you won’t want to miss it. Like past years, it will probably feature some special rooms and the Halloween Candy Hunt.

Club Penguin Field Ops 19 – Enemy Signals

The Club Penguin Field Ops missions continue with the nineteenth task in the series. This week, Gary needs EPF agents to search the island for more enemy signals. As always, your first stop should be the EPF Command Room to get the new assignment. Then go to the Beach and waddle down to the bottom right corner. When you arrive near the shore, your spy phone will light up green and begin to vibrate. Click it to begin this week’s puzzle.

The puzzle is a return of the Master Mind style puzzle that debuted just a few missions ago. In this game, you try to guess the correct arrangement of the pieces. Each time you make a guess, you’ll get feedback on how close you were. A green circle means you have the right symbol in the right spot. So don’t change it! A yellow-orange circle means right symbol but wrong spot. A red circle means wrong symbol. Keep guessing until you have all the right symbols in all the right spots.

When you complete the mission, you’ll get another point towards your EPF gear.

Club Penguin September Games and Events

Club Penguin posted a notice in their community section about upcoming games and events. It sounds like the theme for the month will be games, with a lot of new things coming up.

The Club Penguin Fair starts tomorrow, and just like in past years, it will feature plenty of new games. These special mini-games will let you earn tickets that you can trade in for prizes at the fair.
On September 14, green puffles will get a starring role in one of the regular mini-games. If you have one, it will play the mini-game with you just like how the red puffle helps in Catchin’ Waves and the Pink Puffle helps in Aqua Grabber.
On September 24, there will be some special team events at the Stadium

It all sounds like fun. Any guesses on what game the green puffle will appear in? Post in the comments if you have any ideas.

Art for Haiti Submissions Open

Club Penguin updated the community blog with the news that the Art for Haiti submissions are now open. So beginning this weekend, you can go to their page to submit your artwork. Winning submissions will become part of murals that will decorate schools that are being build for kids in Haiti. Very cool!

Last week we announced our Art for Haiti project. LOTS of you have told us how excited you are to send in your pictures.

Well, today’s the day! We’re ready for your masterpieces, so check out this page to submit your art. Make sure to read all the rules and instructions!

Club Penguin has been working with charities in Haiti to build much needed schools. This mural is the finishing touch to share our love of fun with kids who will learn there.

Club Penguin Party Hats

The Party Hats

We’re continuing the series on Club Penguin costumes today with a look at some of the most desirable items in the game, the Club Penguin party hats. One of the great things about the party hats is that anyone can have them. You don’t need to be a member. The only problem is that you need to have attended the anniversary parties in the past to get the hats.

Each year in October, Club Penguin holds an anniversary party to celebrate the launch of the game in October, 2005. That means that so far there have been four anniversary parties, with a fifth coming up in October 2010. The four anniversary hats are all striped and have a different look. They were all given out during the parties inside the coffee shop (the second year hat was given out upstairs in the Book Room).

If you have three or even all four of the hats it means you’ve been around a while! Here’s a look at all of the different party hats.

The first year party hat had blue and green stripes.

The second year party hat had yellow and orange stripes.

The third year party had had blue, orange and yellow stripes.

The fourth year party had featured purple and blue stripes.

The Beta Hat

There’s an even rarer hat out there: the Beta Hat. This hat was given out to all players who participated in the beta test before Club Penguin launched. It was a pink and yellow-striped hat and it was given out in Town at the end of the beta test.
